Tell Us Your Story

The "Jailhouse Lawyer'' book series gives us crime fiction set inside a Washington State prison. When people are sent to prison for criminal acts, we tend to forget them. Prisons hold bad people. They also hold good people who did bad things. Among them are victims of the US judicial system wrongly convicted or stricken with unfair, excessive sentences. This world has created the characters that form the Jailhouse Lawyer series. The stories told are often based on real crimes by an author who knows the prison system from the inside and has become a respected expert on aspects of the US judicial system and US criminal law. Tom Richey (54), who was born and raised in Scotland, has served over 36 years in prison in Washington State, USA.

The Jailhouse Lawyer series is intended to entertain, and also offers memorable and insightful truths about the real workings and social consequences of the current judicial system. Each book within the series stands on its own with its eclectic mix of characters as it follows Perry Grant, a lawyer framed for a murder he didn't commit, who is sent to prison for life. From inside prison, he continues his fight to prove his innocence while helping those unjustly convicted or sentenced.

Each book in the series is inspired by real events, but fictionalised to allow novelistic treatment. The series appeals to true crime readers, as well as to lovers of crime fiction. Each book opens the gates and doors of our prison system and exposes life inside like you've never seen before.

Now tell your story or the story of someone you know, or imagine about a case of criminal injustice. This will help further develop the 'Jailhouse Lawyer' series. If your story is unique and interesting, with your permission, I might use it in the series. If I do, I will give you credit for it. I may also use you as a cameo character that appears in the book.
