'Jailhouse Lawyer' Book Series Character: Cheyenne Wilson

I became involved in working for Justice For All after my ex-husband, and lawyer, Perry Grant, was framed for murder and sentenced to life without the chance for parole. I realised there's some bad people on the street who should be locked up, and there's innocent people in prison who deserve to be free. Justice For All is for them, a lifeline after their appeals fail to right justice.

As I learned from my ex, Perry Grant, it's the duty of Washington's appellate courts to find reasons to justify the convictions imposed by trial judges---not to find reasons to overturn them. That would reflect poorly on the effectiveness and integrity of the Washington judicial system.

I believe most people behind bars belong there for the crimes they committed. But we've heard plenty stories about men serving decades only to be freed after DNA exonerated them. What about those who didn't have the benefit of DNA? I also became involved with Justice For All because I think we each need to have a purpose in life. My main job managing an oncology team for a global pharmaceutical company serves the purpose of helping find relief for cancer victims. But that is a battle I might never see a result from during my lifetime.

Maybe my other purpose is helping the innocent find relief from imprisonment? Who's to really know what our impact on the world is? I do know but I have an opportunity to help make a positive difference. I don't want to be a bystander in life. There are too many of those.
